BIOGRAPHY
Jonquil Whitehead's legal career is devoted to fighting on behalf of medical corporations and healthcare providers. Her experience spans all aspects of litigation and trial, as well as the appellate process, and she has argued before both state appellate and supreme courts. Whitehead has litigated various claims including medical malpractice, pharmaceutical products liability, toxic tort, professional liability, intentional tort, and general liability cases in both state and federal courts.
Whitehead also provides risk-management support and general legal counseling for some of the largest medical corporations in the United States. She has represented clients before numerous professional boards and provided counsel on a broad range of general and regulatory issues, giving her unique insight into how the law works, as well as how her clients’ decisions may affect their liability down the road. She works with clients to continually improve and limit their exposure through policies, practices and procedures.
Whitehead has extensive experience in high-exposure matters, including birth injury, neurologic injury, decubitus ulcers and wrongful death. Her practice has since expanded to professional liability of dentists, physicians, accountants and corporate liability. In addition to civil litigation, Whitehead has appeared before the Nevada and California Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing and the Nevada Board of Dental Examiners and Board of Accountancy. Whitehead also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of San Diego, School of Law, teaching medical malpractice and litigation skills.
Prior to law, Whitehead studied engineering as an undergraduate at the University of California San Diego, where she won an award for her design of an aero-elastic wing for unmanned aircraft. Whitehead’s engineering background now provides her with a unique vantage into matters involving medical technologies, and Whitehead prides herself on remaining at the forefront of legal issues affecting the life science industry.
